The Kimber 1911 Covert series is without a doubt the most interesting looking family in the Kimber handgun line. The covert family features pistols designed as a personal defense tool for 24-hour use for the ordinary citizen.
Each member of the family comes fully equipped with a Crimson Trace laser grip and a tactical wedge night sight with green illumination. The grips feature digital camo, the Kimber logo and 30 LPI checkering on the front strap.
While Kimber built its reputation offering factory-standard pistols with custom features, the company also recognizes that there is a demand for pistols that exhibit greater attention to the finer details. In response, Kimber created the Custom Shop. One of the Custom Shop’s newer offerings, the Custom Covert II, is a full-size .45 ACP duty gun. Although it may seem counter-intuitive, it has some qualities and features that make it well suited for the Right-To-Carry role beyond its defensive and duty applications.
Kimber America hosted an event at Gunsite Academy in 2017, bringing a number of compact, concealed-carry handguns for writers to run through the wringer during Gunsite’s high-round count drills and courses of fire. One of the guns used thoroughly at the event was the new Kimber Ultra Covert 1911 in .45 ACP.
